Assessment Preparation

Command Career Counselors are required to have their programs assessed annually. A passing assessment is a must in order to receive the annual Retention Excellence Award.

Here are some tools and tips to make sure you have a successful assessment.

1. Obtain a copy of the assessment from your ISIC ahead of time and don't be afraid to ask for a quick-look a few months ahead.

2. Be organized when the ISIC comes in for the inspection. The best we have seen is by making the following  six folders:
     a. Working Binder (15 month EAOS/PRD, PTS, Navlead, etc.)
     b. CDB Binder (minutes, references, etc)
     c. Command Indoc (musters, critique forms, etc.)
     d. Sponsor Program
     e. Monthly Retention Report
     f.  TAP/ARGUS Binder (2 years of 2648's, Argus reports)

By having these six binders populated and ready to go, you will have covered nearly all of the topics in the assessment.

3. Insure your CDB/Sponsor information is populated in CIMS!

4. If you have GENDET or PACT Sailors that do not have CDB information on them- stand by (especially if they are not getting rated)!

The main thing is... Communicate with the ISIC about the requirements.
