CPO Board Workshop
There are so many ways to put together a board package and even more variables involved in verifying, correcting and adding information to the ESR and CD. For those who have never done a CPO board workshop, this is a great way to help out your Sailors and make sure they are doing things the right way when it comes to putting a package together. It's also a great way to get khaki involvement by receiving their pearls of knowledge (and take) on the process. Some of the important things to cover are:
- Verifying your CD, service record and ESR are correct
- Cover how to correct errors in each source
- How to create a cover sheet
- How to label enclosures correctly
- Go over what info should be included in a package (IE. Eval extensions, missing awards, evals etc.)
- How to make a summary letter
- Find a Master Chief who has sat the board to explain grading, the slating process, the tank and factors they look for in selecting Chiefs
- and whatever else you think is important!
I recommend giving the board eligible folks a preaddressed envelope, so all they really have to do is make the package, Get a few people to check it out, drop it in the envelope, and send it off. What a great way to help out your shipmates, ensure their package is good-to-go, and you will be surprised how appreciative your shipmates will be for doing this.
